Dallas Christmas Assistance 2026: Free Toys and Holiday Food if Angel Tree Is Closed

If you tried to sign up for Salvation Army Angel Tree in Dallas this fall, you may have seen this message: "Applications for 2026 the Angel Tree Program Are Closed." That's what the Salvation Army of North Texas page said when we checked on October 6, 2026.
There are still other places to get free toys and holiday food in Dallas, Collin and Tarrant counties this year. Several programs have already posted their 2026 dates. This guide lists them in date order, explains who each one serves, and tells you who to call.
Dallas Holiday Help 2026 at a Glance
Mon., Nov. 2, 9 a.m.: Cathedral of Hope starts taking Thanksgiving basket requests by phone: 214-351-1901.
Thu., Nov. 19, 10 a.m.: S.M. Wright Foundation Thanksgiving event in South Dallas (hot meals, groceries, clothing).
Thu., Nov. 26: Mission Arlington delivers Thanksgiving meals starting at 8 a.m.
Sat., Dec. 12, 8:30 a.m.: S.M. Wright "Christmas in the Park" at Fair Park.
Dec. 12–23 (closed Sundays): Mission Arlington's free Christmas Store for Arlington and Grand Prairie families.
Dec. 15–17: Frisco Family Services Holiday Store.
Fall 2026 (date not posted yet): Metrocrest Services Holiday Program enrollment for the Carrollton area.
Salvation Army Angel Tree in North Texas: What "Closed" Means
The Salvation Army of North Texas takes Angel Tree applications online only for families with children ages 0–14. The program also covers adults 65 and older. Its page now says 2026 applications are closed.

If you missed the window, keep the documents the Salvation Army asks for. Most of the programs below ask for the same kind of proof:
Proof of your address: a current bill with your name on it, or your lease
Proof the children live with you: SNAP/TANF paperwork listing the children, a school enrollment letter, or a lease that lists them
Proof of age and custody: a birth certificate, court papers, school or medical records with the date of birth, or a photo ID
The Salvation Army notes that Social Security cards are not accepted as proof.
Free Christmas Toys in Dallas, Arlington and Frisco
S.M. Wright Foundation: Christmas in the Park (Dallas)
Saturday, December 12, 2026, 8:30 a.m., Fair Park Automobile Building. The foundation calls this Dallas' largest holiday charity event. It says it served more than 32,000 residents in 2022, with food, clothing, toys, household items and furniture.

Arrive early. With an event this large, supplies at a free giveaway can run out.
Mission Arlington Free Christmas Store (Arlington and Grand Prairie)
Parents choose free gifts for their children at 400 W. South St., Arlington.
Dates: December 12–23, 2026, closed Sundays
Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the last day, December 23, runs 10 a.m. to noon
Who: residents of Arlington or Grand Prairie, for children up to age 17

Mission Arlington says 32,983 people (7,798 families) were served by the Christmas Store last year. Grand Prairie families on the Dallas County side can use it too.
Frisco Family Services Holiday Store (Frisco)
December 15–17, 2026. Families and seniors facing a crisis pick out gifts for each person in their household.

Metrocrest Services Holiday Program (Carrollton, Addison, Farmers Branch, Coppell)
Parents shop the Metrocrest holiday store for unwrapped toys. Participants can also pick up non-perishable food and winter coats. For 2026, Metrocrest says enrollment "will open in the fall". Check back or call often.

Network of Community Ministries (Richardson ISD area)
Network runs a Toyland Express holiday toy program and a clothing closet. It serves all 14 ZIP codes in Richardson ISD. Income must be at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines.

Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots has no national application. Go to toysfortots.org, choose "Request a Toy," then pick the campaign for your county. Apply in one county only. Toys for Tots campaigns are run locally, so sign-up dates differ from county to county.
Thanksgiving Food Help in Dallas 2026
Cathedral of Hope Thanksgiving Baskets
Each basket contains the ingredients for a full Thanksgiving meal: an 8–12 lb frozen turkey (or a ham or chicken), potatoes, stuffing, canned vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce and more.
To request a basket: call 214-351-1901 on Monday, November 2, 2026, starting at 9 a.m.
The church says baskets go fast and recommends calling before 10 a.m.

S.M. Wright Foundation Annual Thanksgiving Event
Thursday, November 19, 2026, 10 a.m., South Dallas Community Food Center, Building 1. The event offers hot meals, groceries and clothing for low-income and homeless families. The foundation says 3,000 or more families have been served at past events.

Mission Arlington Thanksgiving Delivery
On Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2026, starting at 8 a.m., Mission Arlington delivers turkeys, hams, food baskets and cooked meals to almost 7,000 families. Its page doesn't explain how to get on the list. Call 817-277-6620 well before Thanksgiving to ask.
Year-Round Food Pantries
North Texas Food Bank works with more than 500 pantries and partners. Use "Find Food" at ntfb.org. For SNAP help, call 214-269-0906.
