Financial Help in Atlanta: Every FSR Guide in One Place (2026–27)
The 211 help line started in Atlanta. United Way of Greater Atlanta launched it in 1997, and the three-digit model was later adopted across the country. Today it is still the fastest way to find rent, utility and food programs across metro Atlanta.
For legal problems, Atlanta Legal Aid Society provides free civil legal help to people who cannot afford a lawyer, including tenants facing eviction. Its Fulton County and downtown headquarters is at 54 Ellis St. NE (404-524-5811), and it has county offices for DeKalb (404-377-0701), Cobb (770-528-2565) and Clayton (404-669-0233). Call the office for the county where you live. The guides below cover Fulton County dispossessory steps, Georgia Power and water bill help, Grady hospital bills, move-in costs and free tax preparation.
